How does payment work?
Participant’s right to a refund, which does not include the non-refundable trip deposit, will adhere to the following schedule:
- 100% refund of the remaining balance – if participant withdraws more than 120 days before program start date;
- 50% refund of the remaining balance – if participant withdraws more than 90 days before program start date;
- 25% refund of the remaining balance – if participant withdraws from the trip more than 60 days before program start date; and
- No refund of the remaining balance – if participant withdraws from the trip 60 days or less than 60 days before program start date.
- The $750 program deposit is non-refundable
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept the following forms of payment: credit card, wire transfer such as CashApp or Zelle direct deposit into Sankofa Ghana Tour’s U.S. bank account. There is a 2.5% transaction fee when paying the remaining balance by credit card (3% for American Express).
As a courtesy, this charge is waived on the initial $750 non-refundable deposit.

Day 1: Accra

Arrive at Accra Kotoka International Airport (ACC); Your tour guides will greet and assist you with luggage and transportation to your hotel. That evening, enjoy a welcome dinner that will include orientation and entertainment.
Optional: Professional tailors will be on site for those interested in custom-made traditional outfits.

Day 2: Accra

The tour of the nation’s capital, Accra, will consist of the following:

Day 3: Accra
ACCRA | AFRICAN OPEN MARKET TOUR | THE MAKOLA MARKET TOUR | AGBOGLOSHIE MARKET TOUR | THE KOKOMBA YAM MARKET
Makola Market in Accra is the Capital’s biggest open markets where goods and services are carried out by women and men selling in the open from variety of stuffs ranging from foods stuffs, vegetables, spices, tubers, plastics, fishes and many many more. A walk down to the market will teach us something and the experience is a breathtaking. A visit Agbogloshie and the Kokomba market is an another wild experience everybody can get. You will be amazed the number of vibrant young men pushing trucks while shouting in the sun for way to carried out their goods. The awesome water seller also shouting that ”It’s Cool ” What an awesome experience you can get.

Day 4: Accra
ACCRA | UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TOUR | LEGON BUSINESS SCHOOL TOUR | UNIVERSITY OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES TOUR
Since the tour’s purpose is to be an educational, you must experience the premier Ghanaian University: University of Ghana (Legon). It is the first university in Ghana and the mother of all universities in Ghana. You will also be able to explore The Legon Business School to learn about its academic success over the years. Along the same stretch is the University of Professional Studies which is also a must-see place to tour while in Ghana.

Day 5: Accra
ACCRA | ART CENTER | LEARN AFRICAN DRUM AND DANCE
In the Ghanaian society there are certain tribes like Ashanti, Ga’s, Dagomba’s and most of them who have a symbolic culture of drumming which signifies and have meaings of the sounds of the drum. In the olden days drums were used as a medium of communication between Kings and their people. In the Ashanti tribe they what have what is called “THE TALKING DRUM”. It was used to call soldiers and the people to ready for attack when there was an external aggressions by an enemy. Whenever that drum is heard , the people knew that its time for war. There are diffrent type of drums and some are also used for entertainment. With this tour on tthis very session we have a time with cultural performance group which perform by their drums and dances. You will also be thought how to dance as local and learn how to beat the drums of different types and dance moves.

Day 6: Cape Coast
CAPE COAST | KAKUM NATIONAL PARK | CAPE COAST CASTLE
After breakfast depart to Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana; with a stop at Kakum National Park; one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. This provides an unforgettable “Jungle” experience amidst the tropical vegetation and wildlife. The forest provides the opportunity to see much of Ghana’s indigenous plant life, rare butterflies, flora and fauna monkeys. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway, which is made up of seven bridges extending 330 meters and hanging 30 meters above the forest floor. Lunch at Hans Cottage Botel. In Cape Coast go on a City Tour of Elmina City drive through the ancient town of Elmina. At the harbor see the colorful fishing canoes getting ready to go to sea for another night’s task of fishing. This is a perfect opportunity for the photographers in the group. This evening a birthday celebration at One Africa – own arrangements. Cape Coast Castle which also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. Cape Coast Castle is another restored UNESCO World Heritage Site,one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas and the Carribeans. The castle is home to the “Door of No Return”

Day 7: Elmina
ELIMINA | ELIMINA CASTLE | ASSIN MANSO SLAVE MARKET | SLAVE RIVER
We depart to the Elmina Castle another World Heritage site. Here castle operators will guide us through all the Slave Dungeons with lectures. The Elimina castle is the first castle to be built in the Sub Saharan region and its the oldest castle in West Africa. Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from the U. S. and Jamaica; and the slave river where slaves take their bath before sent to the markets for slave masters to buy them.

Day 8: Kumasi
Friday – October 23, 2020
The Ashanti Kingdom is blessed with rich culture and home to much pomp and pageantry. this Region is also known for its historical and mythical landmarks. the language spoken is twi, the scenic hilly Kumasi is the regional capital, the second largest city in Ghana.we visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword,an important symbol of the Ashanti Kingdom Unity that marks the spot where the Golden Stool is said to have descended from the sky and has been dig deep the groud where no man born of a woman can pull out and its said to have been in the ground over 300 years. Legend says the Ashanti Kingdom will collapsed should the sword be removed. Visit the Manhiya Palace where is the Head of the Ashanti Kingdom resides.It is the official residence of Ashanti Kings(Asantehene)until 1974,now a museum containing treasured items relating to the Ashanti Kingdom.Enjoy a walk through the city with monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people. Tour the National Cultural Center,which features the Prempeh II former Ashanti King museum and various studios of the brass market,potters and batik makers.

Day 9: Accra
ACCRA-KASOA | WESTHILLS MALL | ACCRA MALL | LABADI NIGHT BEACH | KOKROBITE NIGHT BEACH
A great time at the West Hills Mall which happens to be the biggest mall in West Africa with variety of products. A tour at the mall will give you an experience about how the shopping mall systems in Africa is and products. A night a the Kokrobite Beach or the Labadi Beach will be a place to chill up and enjoy the moon zoon wind and taste the glimpse of the gulf of guenie. Horse riding and bonfires at night at the beach is a perfect place to be.

Day 10: Accra - Evening Departure
The day will be left for any last minute shopping at the Arts Center Market where you will have an opportunity to use your bargaining skills to shop in an open-air market for artifacts from Ghana and West Africa. Late check out and evening transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home.
